Alcohol dependence became the reason for revocation of a driver's license

A narcologist's diagnosis was recognized as a medical contraindication to driving a car

The Vologodsky District Court of the Vologda Region revoked a local resident's driver's license after alcohol dependence was recorded in his case, the regional courts' press service reported.

According to the court, in 2023 the man underwent a medical examination and obtained a driver's license with categories B, B1 (AS), C, C1, and M. In the summer of 2025, he was placed under dispensary supervision by a narcologist with a diagnosis of "alcohol dependence syndrome."

This diagnosis is included in the list of medical contraindications to driving vehicles and directly rules out the possibility of lawful driving. Information about the driver's health condition became known to the Vologodsky District Prosecutor's Office, after which an administrative lawsuit was filed.

The court supported the prosecutor's office position and decided to revoke the man's driver's license. He was ordered to surrender his driver's license to a GAI unit within ten days. He must also pay a state fee for the court's consideration of the case in the amount of 4,000 rubles.
