LiXiang Registration in Russian Traffic Police Turns into Difficulties

Owners face refusals to register due to claims about the VIN sticker

In Russia, owners of Chinese LiXiang cars report difficulties in registering their cars with the traffic police. The reason for the refusals is the inspectors' claims to the VIN-plate - a sticker with basic information about the vehicle, including the VIN and date of manufacture.

According to Alexander Rasskazov, co-founder of the Li Auto club in Russia and the CIS countries, traffic police officers believe that the plate may have been applied not at the factory, but in artisanal conditions. In such cases, the car is not registered and is sent for examination. Even an official letter from the manufacturer about the authenticity of the marking does not always help.

Some owners, after negative examination results, are considering returning the car to the dealer. Members of the Li Auto community note that such situations occur regularly: inspectors state that the plate "does not look like a factory one" and send the car to a forensic scientist.

The official distributor of Li Auto in Russia confirmed that they are aware of the problem. The company stated that all cars are officially imported and comply with the requirements of TR TS 018/2011, and the marking is applied directly at the production in China.
