Acura Celebrates 40 Years with Special Integra 40 Racer Version

The model is inspired by racing history and will debut in April

The anniversary of the Acura brand, founded on March 27, 1986, was marked by the release of a special version of the Integra. The concept is dedicated to the Comptech No. 48 car, which won the IMSA International Sedan Series championships from 1987 to 1990.

The car was built with the participation of Honda Racing Corporation, and it will be shown for the first time at the Long Beach Grand Prix in April.

The Integra 40 Racer is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter D16A1 series engine with a modified control unit and a sports exhaust. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The suspension received adjustable shock absorbers, and the brakes and steering are made without amplifiers. 14-inch wheels with Yokohama semi-slicks are installed.

The interior is as light as possible, leaving only the roll cage, racing seats and six-point belts. The model recreates the spirit of the early racing Integra.

The Acura brand was launched by Honda in 1986 and became the first Japanese premium brand in the United States. In different years, the Integra, NSX and Type R models ensured success.

Currently, the company is reviewing its electric vehicle strategy and is temporarily reducing plans for new models.
