Russian car market showed a decline over the past week

New car sales decreased by 20%, but growth compared to last year remains

The new car market in Russia for the 15th week of 2026 decreased by 20% — to 24.9 thousand registrations, however, the decline is due to the high base of the previous period and does not change the overall recovery trend.

The decrease occurred after a record 14th week, when dealers closed quarterly plans. The current correction is assessed as expected. At the same time, in annual terms, the market shows growth: +28% compared to the same period last year.

As a result of April, sales volume is expected to be slightly above 110 thousand cars. This exceeds March figures, but without a sharp increase.

In the segment of light commercial vehicles (LCV), a decrease of 7% was recorded compared to the previous week — to 1454 units. There is also a decrease of 13% in annual terms.

The segment of trucks, on the contrary, showed growth. 1184 vehicles weighing from 3.5 tons were registered per week — this is 11.5% more than a week earlier, and 17% higher than last year's level.

Sales of heavy trucks (HCV over 16 tons) reached 906 units, an increase of 15% year-on-year. Against the background of the low base of last year and the stabilization of demand, positive dynamics are expected to continue.
