Nissan has begun discussing the next generation of the Z sports car after the 2023 model update, a top company manager said. The previous generation of the Nissan 370Z was produced from 2008 to 2020, and in some markets until 2021. For 12 years, the model received only a restyling in 2013 without significant changes.
A complete update took place in 2021 for the 2023 model year. The car received a new body, a redesigned interior, an updated platform and increased performance. At the same time, the basic architecture was retained from the previous version.
Vice President Pontz Pandikutira said that the company is betting on the heritage of the model. In the next three years, it is planned to release special versions, and in parallel, work is underway on a new generation.
It is expected that the future Z may use the architecture of the next Nissan Skyline / Infiniti Q50, which is scheduled for release in 2027. This will reduce development costs.
The priority remains the new Nissan GT-R, which is considered a key model of the brand. Its premiere is expected around 2030, so the next generation of Z will be released later.
