CATL has unveiled the Shenxing 3 battery with ultra-fast charging. It reaches 98% in 6.5 minutes, while competitors' solutions require about 9 minutes. Bernstein analysts stated that the technology "virtually eliminates the gap with ICEs."
Shenxing 3 supports 10C charging: from 10% to 80% in 3 minutes 44 seconds. Even at -30°C, the battery charges from 20% to 98% in approximately 9 minutes. Moreover, after 1000 cycles, more than 90% of capacity is retained.
CATL Shenxing 3 is complemented by Qilin 3 batteries. They provide up to 1000 km of range with a mass of about 625 kg, improving vehicle efficiency and dynamics.
The Qilin Condensed version is designed for up to 1500 km in a sedan or over 1000 km in an SUV. Such figures reduce dependence on infrastructure and decrease the need for frequent charging.
CATL states that Shenxing 3 and Qilin 3 are intended for mass-produced vehicles, with the first models appearing within a year. Mass production of sodium-ion batteries is planned for late 2026.
