Changan Automobile intends to increase sales to 5 million vehicles per year by 2030 and enter the top five largest automakers in the world.
The plan was presented ahead of the Beijing auto show. The base scenario calls for 4 million sales, but the target figure is 5 million. This is higher than the current volumes of companies such as Ford, Honda, and Nissan based on the results of 2025.
The key growth factor will be electrification. The company expects that 60% of sales will come from electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
The company is also betting on exports. In 2025, Changan sold 638 thousand vehicles outside China, and by 2030 it plans to increase the figure to 1.4–1.8 million. The brand portfolio includes Nevo, Deepal, Avatr, and Kaicene, as well as joint projects with Mazda and Ford.
Competition among Chinese manufacturers is intensifying. Geely plans to reach 6.5 million sales by 2030, while BYD continues to increase volumes without a public target.
Additional growth may be provided by new technologies. Changan is preparing electric vehicles with sodium-ion batteries, which are cheaper than lithium-ion ones. Geely and BYD are conducting similar developments.
