Jaguar has officially confirmed the name of its first car of the new era — the production model will be called Type 01. This car will be the starting point for a radical brand reboot after a controversial rebranding and the abandonment of its traditional lineup.
The Type 01 is being created as an all-electric four-door GT with approximately 1000 hp and a range of up to 770 km according to the WLTP cycle. The car will be built on Jaguar's new Electric Architecture (JEA) platform, developed specifically for future models of the brand.
The car's appearance will retain the key features of the Type 00 concept, which caused a stir after its premiere in Miami in 2024. Jaguar is betting on a long hood, minimalist design, unusual proportions, and a departure from the familiar styling of past models. In essence, the company is trying to distance itself even from recent Jaguar XE, XF, and F-Pace models.
It is particularly indicative that the Type 01 will be the first Jaguar after the de facto end of the era of gasoline models. The brand has already ceased production of most ICE vehicles and is preparing to fully transition to the segment of expensive electric GTs costing over $130,000 (9,600,000 rubles).
For Jaguar, this is not just a new model, but an attempt to completely relaunch the brand. The company no longer wants to compete with BMW or Audi and instead aims for Bentley, Porsche, and Rolls-Royce. But this is where the main risk arises: brand fans are still debating whether the new Jaguar remains a "true Jaguar" after such a sharp departure from historical design.
The full premiere of the Type 01 is expected in September 2026. And this car will show whether Jaguar can survive after one of the most controversial rebrandings in the modern automotive industry.
