XPeng reported deliveries of 38,027 vehicles in July 2026. Throughout the company's history, global sales have exceeded 1.2 million cars. At first glance, the result looks quite decent: annual growth was about 4%.
However, the Chinese market perceived the statistics differently. After the data was published, XPeng shares fell by more than 3%. The reason is not the 38,000 cars themselves, but the growth rates against the background of competitors.
In July, Leapmotor delivered 101,267 vehicles, increasing its result by 102% year-on-year. Zeekr sold 35,837 cars (+111%), and Nio – 35,934 (+71%). For comparison, BYD sold 419,211 new energy vehicles, which is about 22% more than last year's figure.
Against this background, XPeng, with a growth of only 4%, really looks different. The company is not falling, but it is no longer demonstrating its previous dynamics.
The situation is especially important because XPeng traditionally positions itself as a technology manufacturer with strong driver assistance systems. The company is preparing to launch five new models in the Australian market in the second half of 2026, and plans to globally distribute the next generation of intelligent driving technologies in 2027.
