The Chinese GAC Aion UT is entering the European market in the very segment where Volkswagen is trying to regain ground with the ID.3. Autoblog directly considers the new model a competitor to the German model.
The Aion UT has an electric motor with 204 hp (150 kW) and a 60 kWh battery. The range reaches 430 km according to WLTP, and charging from 30 to 80% takes 24 minutes. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 7.3 seconds.
The main feature is its size. With a length of about 4.27 m and a wheelbase of 2750 mm, the Aion UT practically falls within the dimensions of the Volkswagen ID.3. At the same time, the Chinese model received a 14.6-inch central screen, V2L support, and a spacious interior.
The price also plays against Volkswagen. In Europe, the Aion UT is offered from approximately 27,990 euros (about 2.7 million rubles). Moreover, this is not a typical import from China: European cars are assembled at the Magna factory in Graz, Austria. Serial production began on March 18, 2026.
There is also a symbolic detail: the design of the Aion UT was developed in Milan. This results in an unusual combination – a Chinese brand, Italian design, Austrian assembly, and European competition with Volkswagen.
