Rivian is preparing to expand beyond North America. According to company CEO RJ Scaringe, the R2 will be the main vehicle for the European launch, and the brand's appearance in the UK and European countries is expected around 2028.

The choice of the R2 is logical: it is a more compact and affordable model than the current R1T and R1S. In the American market, the base version of the R2 starts at $44,990 (approximately 3.8 million rubles), is equipped with a single 350 hp electric motor and rear-wheel drive. The range is estimated at 275 miles, or about 442 km according to EPA.

In a more expensive version, the R2 gets two electric motors and all-wheel drive. The Performance modification develops 656 hp, accelerates to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and retains off-road capabilities, including optional 20-inch all-terrain tires.

For Rivian, Europe is important not only as a new sales market. The company already has offices and service infrastructure in Europe and the UK, and the R2 itself was originally designed as a more mass-market model. Production of the R2 is planned at Rivian's new plant in Georgia, which is scheduled to launch in 2028.

After the R2, the company expects to offer Europeans an even more compact R3. If the experiment is successful, the larger R1T and R1S may also reach Europe.
