Porsche cannot yet combine the 911 GTS hybrid system with a manual transmission. This was stated by Timo Resch, head of Porsche Cars North America. According to him, the current T-Hybrid architecture and the "manual" are technically incompatible.
The reason lies in the layout. In the 911 Carrera GTS, the electric motor is integrated directly into the 8-speed PDK housing. Therefore, simply replacing the automatic transmission with a six-speed manual does not work here – it would essentially require redesigning part of the powertrain.
However, Porsche has not closed this topic. Resch noted that engineers in Weissach are constantly looking for new solutions and would not be surprised if they manage to create a working combination of hybrid and "manual". At the same time, such a version will most likely require serious design changes.
There is customer interest in such a car. Porsche recently brought back the six-speed manual transmission to the 2027 model year 911 Carrera S for North America. The company explains the decision by high demand, and Resch stated that he expects to keep manual transmissions as long as legislation and customer interest allow.
A hybrid 911 with a "manual" could appear either at the end of the current 992.2 generation's life cycle as a special series, or already in the next generation of the model. Porsche itself has not yet confirmed such an option.
