Great Wall Motor is preparing the Tank 700 Long-Wheelbase – an extended modification of the flagship SUV, revealed in documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The car's length has increased to 5445 mm, and the wheelbase to 3150 mm. The increase over the standard Tank 700 is 340 and 150 mm, respectively.

The main change occurred in the interior. Instead of two rows and five seats, the new version received a 2+2+2 layout with individual second-row seats and a third row. The curb weight, depending on the version, ranges from 3396–3480 kg, and the permissible mass of a braked towed trailer reaches 2.5 tons.

Buyers will be offered two power plants. The first is a Hi4-Z plug-in hybrid with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and a 59.05 kWh battery. The declared electric-only range reaches 190 km according to WLTC. The second option is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 355 hp.

In terms of dimensions, the Tank 700 LWB will be comparable to the Yangwang U8L: the latter's length is 5400 mm, wheelbase is 3250 mm, and the interior is also designed for six people. However, GWM has not yet announced the price and start date of sales for the new version.

The Tank 700 transforms from a large five-seater SUV into a full-fledged three-row flagship. Moreover, the focus is not only on size: the hybrid version combines a large battery with the possibility of long-term operation without starting the internal combustion engine.
