Xiaomi unveiled the Dragonscale battery, developed jointly with CALB and Sunwoda. The battery is designed for the new Skynomad N70 and N90 crossovers, which will premiere on September 7.

The main feature is a thermal runaway protection system. Xiaomi states that high-voltage circuit breakers disconnect the battery in milliseconds, and redundant insulation reduces the risk of short circuits. The state of individual cells is monitored by a cloud-based Cloud BMS system with AI: data is collected three times more in volume and 10 times more frequently than required by China's national standard.

The manufacturer also claims that during tests with a fully charged battery at 55 °C, the ignition of one cell did not spread to other elements of the pack.

The most unusual part of the program concerns not the design, but the warranty. If the battery spontaneously ignites due to a manufacturing defect, Xiaomi promises a free car of the same model and configuration. In case of fire after a collision or damage to the undercarriage, the company will compensate the difference between the insurance payout and the market value of the car before the accident.

The conditions are quite strict: the warranty is valid only for the first owner using the car for personal purposes, with an active subscription to connected Xiaomi services and maintenance at official centers.
