Porsche completes sale of Bugatti Rimac: 1 billion euros from the deal to strengthen business

The German company will allocate about 250 million euros to finance pension obligations

On September 9, Porsche completed the sale of its stakes in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group after receiving all necessary approvals. The German automaker transferred its 45% stake in Bugatti Rimac and 20.6% stake in Rimac Group to a consortium led by HOF Capital.

The joint venture, created in 2021, combines the Bugatti brand and Rimac technologies. After the deal, Rimac Group retains control over Bugatti Rimac, owning 55% of the company. Rimac founder Mate Rimac will now also head Bugatti Automobiles.

The proceeds for Porsche will amount to approximately 1 billion euros. Of this, the company will allocate 250 million to pension obligations. Thanks to the deal, Porsche's automotive net cash margin forecast for 2026 has been raised from 3–5% to 5.5–7.5%.

For the automotive industry, something else is more important: Porsche is effectively abandoning its role as a financial investor in the high-tech Rimac project and returning capital to its core business. At the same time, the technological link between Bugatti and Rimac remains – the company continues to develop electric powertrains and hybrid technologies for hypercars.
