Honda unveiled the 2027 model year Civic Type R. The car's exterior has changed minimally, but engineers have redesigned several components that directly affect the car's behavior at high speeds.
The front end received a new lower air intake and a deeper splitter. This configuration should improve engine cooling and increase front axle downforce. At the same time, Honda re-tuned the +R mode: the changes should reduce body roll and improve tire contact stability.
The powertrain remained the same. The two-liter turbocharged engine develops 315 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 N·m) and works exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. The front wheels receive traction through a mechanical limited-slip differential. At the same time, the Rev Match system received a faster engine response during rev-matching when downshifting.
Changes also affected the braking system: a special spring was added to the pedal mechanism to make its response more direct.
The interior features heated front seats, Ultrasuede trim on the dashboard and doors, two USB-C ports, and an auto-dimming mirror. The infotainment system received built-in Google services, including Gemini.
