VinFast registered 465 electric vehicles in the Netherlands — all intended for taxis

All VinFast VF6 crossovers are intended for the taxi company Green SM

VinFast registered 465 new cars in the Netherlands in October. All of them turned out to be VF6 electric crossovers and are intended for Green SM, a taxi service owned by the parent group Vingroup. Prior to this, in 2024 and 2025, the brand had registered only 35 vehicles in the country. There had been no new registrations since February 2025.

At the same time, the 465 vehicles cannot yet be considered retail sales or an actively operating taxi fleet. All cars are listed in the category “voertuig branche” — automotive industry inventory, meaning they are registered at the level of dealer or commercial infrastructure rather than end users. Therefore, the statistics reflect a large delivery within a single corporate group, but do not yet confirm that all crossovers have already entered service.

Green SM began pilot operations in Amsterdam on September 25, 2026. In the first phase, the service covers the Centrum, West, and Zuid districts, and then plans to expand to Oost, Noord, Nieuw-West, and Zuidoost. The company uses VinFast vehicles and already operates in Denmark, where it launched its European service in Copenhagen. In Amsterdam, passengers are offered a 50% discount on their first ten rides, capped at 30 euros per ride.

For VinFast, the corporate order marked a noticeable shift after weak results in the Dutch private sales market. In October, the batch of 465 cars surpassed the monthly registrations of Jaecoo, which totaled 374 vehicles, but trailed BYD with 674 registrations and Leapmotor with 622. Now, the next stage will be telling: the transition of the VF6 from dealer inventory directly into the taxi fleet. It is subsequent statistics that will make it possible to evaluate whether the large order within Vingroup has turned into a sustainable presence for the brand in the European market.
