Green SM, a ride-hailing service associated with the Vietnamese automaker VinFast, has launched in Los Angeles. Starting October 13, 2026, the service accepts ride requests within the city and county of Los Angeles, as well as to Orange County. In the initial phase, the company will deploy 500 VinFast VF 8 electric crossovers and 500 drivers.

Green SM operates its own fleet of vehicles and employs drivers on a full-time basis. Rides can be booked through an app, by phone, or by hailing a car on the street. However, the crossovers have not yet received permission to serve Los Angeles Airport.
The expansion into California marks Green SM's first step into the North American market and extends the company's operational footprint to nine countries. The service is already present in Asian and European countries. Its development allows VinFast to introduce potential buyers to its electric vehicles in everyday use, not limited to sales through dealerships.
At launch, Green SM offers new customers a 50% discount on their first five rides — up to $12 each. Free Green Pass membership is also available, offering ten coupons per month, each reducing the ride cost by 30%, up to a maximum of $10.
