The WhatCar portal has published a rating of the most reliable cars of 2025, based on data from thousands of owners who assessed the frequency of breakdowns, the nature of malfunctions and the cost of repairs. As a result, a list of ten models was formed that least often cause problems for their owners.
Honda took first place with a score of 96.6%. The Japanese brand confidently leads thanks to the Civic, HR-V and Jazz models, which practically do not break down. In rare cases of malfunctions, the manufacturer takes over all repair work.
In second place was the British brand Mini, owned by BMW, with a result of 96.4%. The most reliable model is the Mini Hatchback 2014–2024, which scored 99.1%. It is followed by the Mini Countryman with 95.4% and the Mini Electric with 94.2%. The main complaints of the owners concerned not the technology, but secondary systems such as body elements or multimedia navigation.
The third position in the ranking was taken by Suzuki with 95.7%. This Japanese manufacturer has consistently been in the top five for several years in a row. In 2025, the company covered 88% of the cost of repairing cars under the age of five, and in 42% of cases, malfunctions were eliminated in less than a day. The most reliable are Suzuki Swift (95.9%), Vitara (95.9%) and S-Cross (93.5%).
Next is Toyota, which scored 95.2%. Cars of this brand are traditionally famous for their durability, and the GR Yaris and Aygo X models have shown exceptional resistance to breakdowns. Most repair cases, like Honda, are paid for by the manufacturer itself.
The fifth place with a result of 95.1% was taken by Vauxhall (Opel). Among the most trouble-free models are the second generation Grandland, as well as the gasoline Astra, Corsa and Mokka.
The sixth position in the ranking was taken by BMW, which received a rating of 94.6%. The electric BMW i3 and i4, which scored 97.4% and 96.8% respectively, proved to be particularly good. Among gasoline cars, the 3-Series, X5 and 4-Series in coupe and convertible bodies are highly reliable.
In seventh place was Tesla with 94.5%. The most reliable models are Model Y and Model 3. In 94% of cases, repairs were carried out free of charge, which had a positive impact on the brand's position.
The eighth place was taken by Kia, which improved its results and rose from 11th to 8th place, scoring 94.4%. A significant role was played by the new Kia EV3 electric crossover, which received the maximum reliability rating — 100%. The Niro, Ceed and EV6 models are also highly rated.
In ninth place was Lexus, Toyota's premium brand. This year, the brand lost some ground due to battery problems with the LBX model, but the remaining cars, including the NX, RX and UX, confirmed their high level of reliability.
The tenth line was taken by Citroen with a final result of 93.9%. Breakdowns were noted by approximately 20% of owners, but in most cases — 87% — the repair was carried out at the expense of the manufacturer. The most stable models are Citroen C4 and C5 Aircross, which received 93.7% and 94.1%.
