The American publication Consumer Reports has released a fresh anti-ranking of crossovers and SUVs that have distinguished themselves with the lowest reliability. The study is based on a large-scale survey of owners of more than 380,000 cars, who shared their experiences of operating their cars and reported on emerging malfunctions.

In terms of the total number of problematic models, the General Motors concern took the leading position in this list. Cars from this manufacturer are more likely than others to appear in various segments as sources of regular technical malfunctions.

Compact Crossovers and SUVs

In the compact SUV category, the worst reliability indicators were demonstrated by the Chevrolet Equinox and the GMC Terrain, which is technically close to it. Owners of these models most often report problems with the transmission, as well as failures in the operation of electronic systems. These malfunctions were the main reasons for the low rating of cars in this segment.

Mid-Size Three-Row Crossovers

Among mid-size crossovers with three rows of seats, the GMC Acadia was recognized as the worst according to the survey results. Owners of this model regularly have to deal with transmission problems, problems with the brake system and electronics. Additionally, leaks of technical fluids are noted, which also affected the overall level of reliability of the car.

Mid-Size SUVs

In the mid-size SUV class, the Jeep Grand Cherokee turned out to be the least reliable. Owners of this model complain about a wide range of malfunctions. Among them are problems with steering and suspension, fluid leaks, extraneous noises, as well as loss of traction in hybrid modifications. The combination of these factors made the Grand Cherokee the worst representative of the segment according to Consumer Reports.

Electric Crossovers

In the electric SUV category, Consumer Reports named the Chevrolet Blazer EV as the most problematic model. Owners of this electric crossover regularly encounter errors in the operation of the traction battery, failures of electronic systems and malfunctions of the climate control system. It was the combination of these problems that led the car to first place in the anti-rating among electric crossovers.
