The new Lada Granta is now estimated at a minimum of 770,900 rubles. Against this background, it makes sense to consider five used cars that will cost less than the bestseller from AvtoVAZ, but are able to offer the new owner high-quality interiors and reliable technical equipment.

Renault Symbol second generation (2008–2012)

When it comes to buying a reliable Renault, most buyers immediately remember the Logan. However, this model often has a taxi past. Unlike it, the related Symbol, especially in the second generation, was mainly purchased by private owners.

Renault Symbol has a proven set of units, a spacious trunk and pleasant trim materials. In addition, the sedan is equipped with solid steel underbody protection, which significantly increases the cross-country ability of the front-wheel drive model. Preference should be given to versions with a five-speed manual gearbox, and not a four-band "automatic" AL4. The latter is characterized by a capricious character: it is sensitive to overheating, does not tolerate aggressive driving and requires mandatory warm-ups in winter.

Skoda Octavia Tour first generation (2008–2010)

From the point of view of appearance, the Skoda Octavia Tour looks frankly archaic - its design refers more to the eighties than even to the nineties. That is why, with a budget of over half a million rubles, many pay attention to more recent generations of the model.

However, this decision cannot be called rational. The Octavia Tour is highly reliable and was offered with gasoline engines with a capacity of 75, 102 and 150 hp, as well as with an extremely durable 1.9 TDI turbodiesel, developing 90 hp. The buyer could choose both a liftback and a station wagon. It should be taken into account that the basic version provided only the driver's airbag and power steering, without additional equipment. Therefore, to get at least air conditioning, you need to look for richer trim levels.

Toyota Auris first generation (restyling 2009–2012)

Toyota Auris is the closest relative of the Corolla, but it is the sedan that is in high demand and costs more. The five-door hatchback, on the other hand, is more practical and noticeably more affordable on the secondary market.

The used Japanese model demonstrates high reliability compared to classmates such as Renault Megane, Chevrolet Lacetti, Kia cee’d or Volkswagen Golf - these cars can cause the owner more trouble. In the maximum configurations, the Auris was equipped with seven airbags, climate control and a keyless entry system. However, even basic versions offered a decent level of equipment.

Mitsubishi Galant ninth generation (2003–2012)

Finding a well-preserved Mitsubishi Lancer of the ninth or tenth generation today is not easy - the demand for them remains high. But the Mitsubishi Galant enjoys a much more modest popularity, which affects the price: often a business-class sedan costs less than models of a lower class.

Galant offers a successful combination of dimensions, equipment and cost. Among its advantages are well-thought-out ergonomics, a well-tuned chassis, a reliable power unit and an impressive ground clearance. The basic Intense version, originally oriented to the American market, includes six airbags, climate control, a standard audio system, heated front seats, cruise control and alloy wheels.

Nissan Teana second generation (2008–2014)

Nissan Teana attracts with resource engines. The VQ25 engine with a volume of 2.5 liters is capable of passing 300–350 thousand kilometers before a relatively inexpensive overhaul. At the same time, the use of poor-quality fuel can lead to the failure of oxygen sensors.

In terms of cost, the Teana is noticeably more affordable than the Toyota Camry V40, although it is comparable to it in terms of resource. An additional advantage of individual copies is the all-wheel drive system from the Nissan X-Trail with a multi-disc clutch for connecting the rear wheels - however, the share of such cars is about 10%. The Jatco JF011E continuously variable transmission, which many Russian buyers fear, can last up to 200 thousand kilometers with proper operation. In conditions of a limited budget, the Japanese sedan looks like a very interesting option.
