AvtoVAZ presented its first crossover, Lada Azimut, on June 19. Built on the Lada Vesta platform, it differs from it in design and proportions. However, success is not guaranteed for the car, said Anton Shaparin, Vice President of the National Automobile Union.
According to him, Lada Azimut looks fresh and modern, quite in the spirit of basic Chinese crossovers. And its market prospects will directly depend on the cost.
At a price below 2 million rubles, it will be more than in demand. However, we would not count on such pricing. AvtoVAZ will definitely not engage in dumping in the current market.
At a cost of 2.5 million rubles, which is much more likely, Shaparin believes, Lada Azimut will turn into a niche product. The car will definitely lose competition to the Chinese in terms of functionality, capabilities, and reliability.
At a price closer to 3 million rubles, this car has no market prospects. But there are non-market ones, through coercion of various categories of consumers, unfortunately.
