New Model, Old Problems: AvtoVAZ Not Ready for Mass Production of Iskra SW Cross

Only a few hundred cars have been assembled at the factory

The new Lada Iskra SW Cross is an all-terrain wagon with a more modern chassis and better handling than the Granta. The model has galvanized exterior panels, a reinforced rear beam, and a subframe.

However, it is too early to expect the model to appear on the market en masse. Despite the start of production on April 19, it is difficult to talk about industrial production - only a few hundred cars have been assembled at the factory, most of which are being finalized manually.

The level of problems with components and defects remains high, and cars are moved between sections for corrections. Dealers currently only have demonstration copies.

The first small deliveries of Iskra SW Cross to dealerships will begin in the fall, but real mass production is not expected until the spring of 2026.
