Tesla began testing its robotaxi in Texas and on the very first day faced serious problems: the company's cars were involved in 3 accidents in one day. For comparison, Waymo, which also conducts tests in Texas, has registered 60 accidents in 50 million miles of testing.
In fairness, it should be noted that in 2 out of 3 cases, the Tesla Model Y robotaxi was hit by other road users, which calls into question the direct fault of the Tesla car. However, in the third case, the electric car itself ran into a stationary object at low speed, causing minor harm to a person's health.
According to Forbes, a fourth incident occurred, but it happened in a parking lot and was not included in the official statistics. Experts note that this result may be due to the fact that Tesla uses only cameras for navigation, instead of a combination with radar and lidar.
