Volvo CX70 Goes on Sale in China

The crossover is positioned between the XC60 and XC90 models

Official sales of the Volvo CX70 crossover have started in China, positioned between the XC60 and XC90 models. The car is built on a combination of the SPA2 platform for electric vehicles and the SMA platform for hybrids, but is only offered as a plug-in hybrid without a purely electric version. Buyers of the first units receive a discount of $20.5 thousand (147 thousand yuan), which allows them to purchase an additional car like the Geely Galaxy Star 6 with the remaining funds.

The crossover is available in four trim levels with prices ranging from 38 to 49 thousand dollars after the discount. The base version is equipped with front-wheel drive and a 21.2 kWh battery, while the other three have all-wheel drive and a 39.6 kWh battery. The dimensions are 4815 × 1890 × 1650 mm, with a wheelbase of 2895 mm. The design follows Volvo's signature motifs: headlights in the shape of "Thor's hammer", taillights like a "Viking axe", and frameless doors.

The interior includes a 12.3-inch digital panel, a media system with a 15.4-inch screen, a 92-inch projection display, an audio system with 23 speakers, and a 50W wireless charger. The NPA Intelligent Pilot Assist autonomous driving system functions up to 150 km/h, supporting automatic entry and exit from highways, as well as remote parking. The power plant is based on a 1.5-liter engine with a 3DHT transmission: in the front-wheel drive version, it delivers 145 hp from the ICE and 318 hp from the electric motor, with a range of 116 km on electricity, and acceleration to 100 km/h in 8 seconds. The all-wheel drive version produces 462 hp, travels 212 km on electric power, and up to 1200 km in total.
