Insufficient pressure in car tires increases the load on the constituent elements of the tire. With prolonged use, its internal structure is destroyed, said Alexey Abrameitsev, Head of Customer Technical Support Department at Cordiant JSC.
According to him, the tire carcass and bulges on it can be damaged when hitting a pothole with sharp edges; low-profile tires are especially sensitive to such damage.
If the tire sidewall makes unsuccessful contact with a sharp protruding part of the curb, a cut may form, which is most often not repairable.
Tires require special conditions: exposure to direct sunlight, contact with heat sources, storage, for example, under a pile of garage junk - all this harms tires and may only manifest after they are installed on a car in the form of cracks or vibration while driving.
Abrameitsev also warned that for long service of winter tires, it is imperative to undergo proper break-in - observe the speed limit for the first 200-300 km and try to avoid sudden maneuvers.
