The classic Lada Niva will receive a new engine in 2026. This was announced by Sergey Kornienko, Head of Product Marketing at AvtoVAZ.
According to him, a new eight-valve 1.8-liter engine with a power of 90 hp will appear on the Lada Niva Legend tentatively in the middle of next year.
It will replace the current 1.7-liter engine — this engine will go down in history.
Kornienko added that in addition to the new engine, the Lada Niva Legend will receive "other significant changes", but did not disclose details. In April 2025, AvtoVAZ began selling the classic three-door Lada Niva SUV in the new Sport modification. The price of the new product is from 1.7 million rubles.
On Monday, October 13, a test drive of the modernized Niva Travel started. As a rule, such an event takes place shortly before the start of sales.
It can be assumed that within a few weeks the updated SUVs will begin to appear in car dealerships.
