Ford Celebrates 50th Anniversary of F-150 with Unexpected Accessory

It can hold your car key

Ford celebrated the 50th anniversary of the F-150 by introducing an unusual accessory: the Truckle belt buckle. The automaker collaborated with A Cut Above Buckles, a small metalworking shop from Utah, to create the product. The buckle was designed by Andy Andrews, a former rodeo participant and collector of the F-series, who has been making custom buckles from silver and bronze for a long time.

Each Truckle is engraved with the front of the F-150, a blue oval, and the number 1975, indicating the year of the F-150's debut.

The buckle serves a practical function: it can securely hold the truck's key without having to take it out all day, while Ford continues to recognize the key fob for keyless entry and engine start.

Although the accessory was created in honor of the F-150, it is compatible with key fobs of other Ford models with the universal Blue Oval key, starting in 2018, including the Mustang and Bronco.

The first batch of Truckles sold out quickly: the price of $200 plus $34 for the belt did not scare off fans of the brand. New copies are promised to be released soon.
