Cases of three-liter diesel BMW X7s catching fire have been recorded in Russia. According to the Shot Proverka channel, the cause was defects in the Korean-made EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system.
Abroad, such cars have already been recognized as defective and have been repeatedly recalled due to the risk of fire.
One X7 owner noted that his car burst into flames while driving, although it had undergone scheduled maintenance two weeks prior.
He later found out that on the website of the British representative office of BMW, the car is listed as one of the models with a problematic EGR system and deposits in the intake manifold that can ignite.
Service center technicians note that cases of diesel BMWs catching fire are not uncommon in Russia.
Usually, the first alarming signal is increased coolant consumption - the liquid begins to go inside the engine. Ignition occurs only in extreme cases, when the problem with the EGR is maximally neglected.
