Where are the most new cars bought: Russia's leading regions named

Moscow and the Moscow region are expectedly leading

According to the results of the first nine months of 2025, the leaders of the Russian new car market were Moscow and the Moscow region. As Sergey Udalov, Executive Director of the Avtostat agency, announced at the CarXL 25 forum, 174.8 thousand new cars were sold in these regions, 25% less than a year earlier. The most popular models were Haval Jolion and Belgee X50 (4.4% each), as well as Geely Monjaro (4.1%).

In second place are St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, where 63.4 thousand cars were sold. Here, demand was led by Haval Jolion (5.3%), Lada Granta (4.9%) and Belgee X50.

The third position is occupied by the Krasnodar Territory with a result of 41.9 thousand cars sold. Sales leaders are Lada Granta (11%), Lada Vesta (5.2%) and Haval Jolion (3.9%).

The top five regions are closed by Tatarstan (41.8 thousand) and the Samara region (32.2 thousand).

In total, almost 896 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia in January–September 2025, which is 22.4% less than in the same period last year.
