The abolition of the preferential recycling fee for importing cars with more than 160 hp into Russia for personal use will lead to the cessation of Toyota car deliveries. This was announced by Oleg Moseev, former head of the "Russian Automobile Dealers" association.
According to him, only 3.5-4% of Toyota's alternative imports were for cars with a capacity of up to 160 hp.
Basically, Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Prado SUVs, RAV4 crossovers with more powerful engines, and Camry sedans went to Russia. Toyota, which has been in the top ten sales leaders for several months this year, will lose the most from this measure. I think that with the sale of stocks, it will fly out of the top ten.
Moseev clarified that in the case of Hyundai and Kia, cars with a capacity of less than 160 hp account for approximately 50% of deliveries. For Mazda, Skoda, and Volkswagen, such cars account for 30% of their alternative imports into the Russian Federation, therefore, the preferential "recycling" will be retained for these cars.
