Following a sharp increase in sales of auto products on marketplaces, experts have warned that some tires may be used or show signs of improper storage. Oleg Markov, a specialist at Cordiant, explained how to recognize such cases before installation on a car.
According to Markov, the first thing to do after receiving the order is to make sure that the characteristics fully match those specified in the product card.
Brand, model, speed index, and load rating — these parameters are indicated on the tire sidewall in large print and must fully match those recommended for installation on the car.
Markov advised carefully inspecting the outer surface of the rubber: new tires should not have dents, bends, cracks, cuts, or traces of storage in the open air.
Special attention should be paid to the inner part — the material here is more delicate, and if stored improperly, it may crack.
A separate step is to check the tread and sidewall areas. Traces of mounting paste, scuffs, or dents on the sidewalls indicate that the tire may have already been installed on a rim.
