In October, the Russian used car market updated its historical maximum. According to the Avtostat agency, 653 thousand cars were sold in a month - this volume was last recorded 18 years ago.
Analysts believe that the market is at a point where several factors have created ideal conditions for a surge in demand.
The traditional autumn revival was accompanied by a sharp increase in the supply of cars imported through parallel imports. The reason was the expected increase in the recycling fee - owners and dealers began to actively put cars up for sale in order to avoid price increases.
The increase in prices for new cars, caused by changes in regulation, also played a role. When the price of a new car approaches a psychologically critical mark, some buyers inevitably switch to the secondary market.
The interest was fueled by additional money released after the end of short-term deposits, as well as a slight decrease in interest rates on loans - many used this moment to update the car.
