Driving too calmly can harm a car's engine as much as aggressive driving. This was reported by the Avtovzglyad portal.
The journalists explained that driving "under strain", short trips, and monotonous low revs increase the risk of detonation and deposits in turbo engines. Therefore, the optimal mode is a reasonable balance with periodic active load.
Moreover, when driving "under strain" in modern turbo engines, there is a pre-ignition effect — detonation, simply put. And it can physically destroy the engine. After all, the explosion does not occur at the top dead center of the cylinder, but earlier — when the piston is still moving upwards.
Drivers were advised to use a predictable driving style, but with appropriate episodes of more active engine and transmission operation.
