In the US, a recall of Hyundai vehicles has been announced due to a potential fire hazard. According to Reuters, citing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 51,587 vehicles sold in the American market are affected by the service campaign.
The reason for the recall is a defect in the lighting system. Due to incorrect installation of the wiring harness, a short circuit in the lights is possible, which increases the likelihood of overheating and fire. The regulator notes that the problem is specifically related to the installation of electrical wiring, and not to the design of the cars themselves.
Until the repair is completed, owners are advised to take precautions: trailers should be parked in open areas and kept away from buildings. This temporary solution is designed to reduce potential risks.
As part of the recall, Hyundai dealers will replace the faulty wiring harness free of charge. All work will be carried out at the expense of the manufacturer, and notifications for the owners of the affected vehicles will begin to be sent out in the near future.
