Swiss Driver to Bring Niva Back to Dakar: Lada to Start in 2026

The race will be held in Saudi Arabia

Swiss racer Sladjan Miljic from the Oasis Rally Team has officially presented the Lada Niva car, which he will use to participate in the Dakar Rally-Marathon in 2026. The race will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 3 to 17.

A 1996 Lada Niva all-wheel-drive SUV has been prepared for participation in the marathon. The car was created specifically for the requirements of the Dakar and has become the second Niva project implemented by Miljic together with the Oasis Rally Team and Swiss racer Marcel, whom the pilot calls a legend of national motorsport.

The car was presented with the participation of the Dakar press service. Commenting on the project, Miljic emphasized the continuity of the approach.

As you can see, this is a 1996 Lada Niva, this is the second Lada Niva that we have built, now together with the Oasis Rally Team and with Marcel, a legendary racer from Switzerland.

For Miljic, participation in the Dakar on the Niva is not a debut. In 2022, he already started the marathon in this car, then acting as a navigator. The new race will be an attempt to once again prove the competitiveness of the classic all-wheel drive SUV in one of the toughest rallies in the world.
