According to a joint study by Gazprombank Autoleasing and the Autostat agency, the financial capacity of the Russian market for new passenger cars in December 2025 reached 487.4 billion rubles. This is 7.7% more than in November, and 24.3% higher than the level of a year ago. For the whole of 2025, Russians spent 4.38 trillion rubles on new cars, which is 10.6% lower than the record result of 2024 (4.9 trillion).
Premium cars continue to increase their share of spending. In December, 17.9 thousand luxury segment cars were sold (+12.8% compared to November), on which Russians spent 155.5 billion rubles (+17.1%). The share of the premium segment exceeded 30% for the first time in 2025 — 31.9%. Accordingly, the share of mass models decreased to 68.1%, although their sales volume and costs also increased: 118.6 thousand cars (+5.8%) for 331.8 billion rubles (+3.8%).
Chinese brands are leading among the brands: 58.1 thousand cars were sold for 221.9 billion rubles, the share in money decreased from 47% to 45.5%. They are followed by Russian brands (98.3 billion rubles), European (83.4 billion), Japanese (41.2 billion), Korean (13.8 billion) and American (7.1 billion). In terms of sales, Russian brands are also second after Chinese ones — 51.3 thousand units.
The SUV segment has regained strength: 99.6 thousand new crossovers and SUVs were sold for 393.9 billion rubles, which amounted to 73% in units and 80.8% in money, exceeding the 80% mark in the cost structure for the first time. Cars of the B-class remain in second place in terms of popularity — 22.1 thousand cars for 33.5 billion rubles (16.2% and 6.9%, respectively). The remaining segments did not reach even 3% in either quantity or financial capacity.
