The emergence in the future of paid entry of cars to the center of such megacities as St. Petersburg is inevitable. This was stated by the speaker of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Belsky.
The politician advocated including the Northern capital among the first cities in Russia where an experiment could be carried out to introduce paid entry. According to him, the introduction of such a fee is being discussed at the federal level, but no decision has yet been made.
Nevertheless, Belsky noted that "for large megacities, as world practice shows, this is inevitable".
If an experiment is carried out, I would insist that St. Petersburg be included in it. Because there is world experience that shows that the situation in the city can change very seriously due to paid entry to the center.
Belsky pointed out that a large number of cars means a burden on buildings and roads in the historical center, which translates into a burden on the budget, which should be reduced.
