The name Merlon, as in the case of Aurus cars, refers to the Moscow Kremlin: merlons are the battlements on the Kremlin wall. NAMI began designing the electric motorcycle in 2019 by order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The main purpose of the Aurus Merlon is year-round escort of motorcades of heads of state and representatives of diplomatic missions.
