Germany Leads, Russia Fifth in Europe

The Russian car market consolidated its position at the end of January 2026

The Russian car market retained its fifth place in the European ranking at the end of January 2026. This was reported by experts from the AUTOSTAT agency, citing data from the consulting company GlobalData.

Germany remains the leader in the European championship. In January, 193,981 cars were sold there, which is 6.6% less than a year earlier. Great Britain took second place with a result of 144,127 cars and a growth of 3.4%. Italy came in third with 141,980 cars sold, up 6.2%. France is in fourth position with 107,157 units, which is 6.5% lower than last year's level.

If we take into account the Russian market in European statistics, Russia retained its fifth place. According to JSC "PPK", in January 2026, 80,604 new passenger cars were sold in the country - 9.5% less than in January 2025.

Spain showed growth of 1.1% at the end of the month. Sales amounted to 73,103 cars, which secured it sixth place in the ranking.
