Ford is preparing to return the compact Fiesta model to the European market. The new generation may appear in the form of an electric car and will be created in partnership with Renault Group.

Ford previously discontinued the Fiesta as part of a strategy to electrify and reorient towards crossovers. It was assumed that some customers would switch to the Puma subcompact crossover, but the company is considering reviving the hatchback on an electric platform.

According to Carscoops, Ford and Renault are planning to develop two affordable electric vehicles for Europe based on the AmpR Small platform of the French concern. Although there is no official confirmation of the Fiesta EV yet, the project is in an active phase.

It is expected that the new product will receive a modern media system based on the Renault architecture with an operating system based on Google and the possibility of "over the air" updates.

The Renault 5, already produced by the French brand, serves as a reference point for the form factor. Its length is 3922 mm, and the wheelbase is 2540 mm. The future Fiesta will be built on a 400-volt AmpR Small architecture and refined by Ford Europe engineers in terms of handling and comfort.
