KamAZ has certified a new all-wheel-drive fifth-wheel tractor unit of the K5 generation, capable of operating as part of a road train with a gross weight of up to 100 tons. Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) has been obtained for the modification, which grants the right to begin mass production and sales in Russia.
This refers to the KamAZ-65954 model with a 6×6 wheel arrangement. According to the document, the tractor unit's curb weight is 35 tons, while the permissible weight of the towed semi-trailer reaches 86.6 tons.
The truck is equipped with an inline six-cylinder turbo diesel engine rated at 560 hp. It is paired with a 16-speed gearbox manufactured by "TsF Kama". Two transfer case options are provided: single-speed and two-speed with a low range.
In the C331−4E35-X1 version, a pre-heater, air conditioning, an independent heater, additional fuel tanks, a media system with a touchscreen, a refrigerator, and navigation are available. Installation of a power take-off unit to drive the semi-trailer's dump body is also possible.
