The German manufacturer showcased the new generation of Detroit Gen 6 engines - DD13, DD15 and DD16

Daimler Truck presented a new generation of Detroit Gen 6 diesel engines. The lineup includes the DD13, DD15 and DD16 models, which will be installed in Freightliner and Western Star trucks. The premiere took place three weeks before Rudolf Diesel's birthday (March 18, 1858).

According to the company, when developing Detroit Gen 6, engineers upgraded the previous Gen 5 generation. This approach made it possible to increase the service life and reliability of the units. At the same time, fuel efficiency was improved and emissions were reduced.

Production of Detroit Gen 6 engines will be launched in the United States at the plant in Redford, Michigan. The facility employs more than 2,000 people. Production of the DD13 and DD15 versions will start in January 2027. The DD16 modification will join the lineup in January 2028.
