Subaru's sales decreased by 3.6% last year, and the decline only accelerated in February. Shipments decreased by 8.2% to 45,113 vehicles, with almost all models showing double-digit figures in the sales decline statistics.
The exceptions were the Subaru Forester and Subaru BRZ. Forester sales increased by 24.9% and reached a record for February sales - 17,919 units. The growth was driven by the hybrid version and the Wilderness trim. BRZ added 13.5%, but in numerical terms, this is only 33 cars.
At the same time, Subaru Impreza sales fell by 48.2%, Subaru WRX by 40.6%. The number of Subaru Crosstrek sold decreased by 10.4%, Subaru Solterra by 20.8%. Subaru Outback sales decreased by 24.3% to 8,787 cars. The base price of the model now starts at $34,995, which is $5,000 higher than before.
To increase sales, the company plans to bring back the base version of the WRX, reducing the starting price of the model by $5,255, and the cost of the Forester was also reduced by $2,015. In addition, two new electric vehicles will appear in the lineup - Uncharted priced from $34,995 and Trailseeker with a starting price of $39,995.
