The price of the Toyota Corolla in Japan has risen by almost 60% in the last ten years. According to Nikkei Asia, citing the statistics bureau, the starting cost of the model has increased from 1.45 million yen in 2015 to 2.28 million yen in 2025.

The cost increase was 57.2%. Converted to rubles, the base price increased from approximately 728 thousand to 1.1 million rubles. Because of this, the car, which was previously considered affordable, has become noticeably more expensive for buyers interested in the budget segment.

At the same time, experts note that the 57% figure does not fully reflect the price dynamics. In 2015, a budget version of the Corolla Axio was sold on the market. Its production was completed in 2024, and at the time of its withdrawal from the market, the model cost about 1.64 million yen.

If we compare models of the same class, the increase is less significant. For example, the Toyota Auris hatchback cost from 1.79 million yen in 2015, its modern counterpart — the Corolla Sport 2025 — is already offered from 2.46 million yen.

In comparable versions, the cost increase is about 37.4%. Nevertheless, inflation has significantly affected the Japanese automotive market, increasing the price of one of Toyota's most popular models.
