Geely has unveiled the i-HEV hybrid system and announced its introduction in mass-market models in 2026, including the Geely Monjaro and Geely Preface. The system increases energy efficiency by more than 10% through AI control and a specialized power plant. The hybrid engine demonstrates a thermal efficiency of 48.4%, and the 230 kW electric drive provides acceleration to 30 km/h in 1.84 seconds.
The claimed fuel consumption is confirmed by a Guinness certificate — 2.22 L/100 km. Production versions show 3.98 L/100 km for the Preface and 4.75 L/100 km for the Monjaro in the WLTC cycle.
The models received minimal exterior changes but are equipped with digital panels, the Flyme Auto system, and Huawei HiCar integration. Higher versions are available with a head-up display and seats with ventilation and massage.
Geely is scaling i-HEV to key models, including the Emgrand and Boyue. The system supports 1.5L, 1.5TD, and 2.0TD engines with an integrated electric drive.
The launch reflects the growing interest in hybrids in China amid declining incentives for plug-in models. At the same time, Toyota sold about 4.4 million hybrids in 2025, which confirms sustained demand.
