BMW unveiled the BMW iX3 Flow Edition concept with a body panel based on E Ink technology, demonstrating the solution's readiness for mass production. The main feature was the hood with an integrated display. It supports eight animations, including dynamic display of a city silhouette and various light scenarios with adjustable brightness.
The concept builds on ideas previously shown in the 2022 iX Flow. In the new version, the technology is applied for the first time to a large body panel, bringing it closer to mass production.
According to BMW, the system allows visual personalization of the car, adapting its appearance to the driver's style and mood. The design can vary from understated to expressive.
The timing of the technology's appearance in production BMW cars has not been disclosed.
