Nissan is preparing a production Nissan Xterra and has already shown teasers. The model will return after 11 years, amidst growing demand for classic SUVs. Despite the "old-school" body-on-frame market being overheated again, Nissan is now trying to enter with a new architecture and a hybrid. This could shift the balance of power if the price can be maintained.
The Xterra is moving to a new body-on-frame platform, which the company will scale for future SUVs. Two V6 engines are confirmed: a classic and a hybrid. There will be no manual transmission – the segment trend has shifted towards automatics.
The front features a massive brand inscription on the grille (a technique similar to the Ford Bronco), split optics, and lower LED blocks. The profile boasts high ground clearance, a "black" roof, and off-road wheels. Renders hint at underbody protection and a rear-mounted spare tire – visually, it's a "honest" off-roader.
At a price under $40,000 (3,000,000 rubles), the new model stands alongside the Jeep Wrangler (from 2,925,000 rubles) and is slightly cheaper than the base Bronco (3,035,000 rubles), while being noticeably more affordable than the Toyota 4Runner (from 3,140,000 rubles).
