Porsche is preparing an update for the current Panamera, and the first spy shots have already sparked debate among brand enthusiasts. Judging by the prototypes spotted at the Nürburgring, the German manufacturer may abandon the last physical switches on the center console.
Today's Panamera remains one of the few premium segment models where the main climate control functions are still managed by separate touch buttons and switches. However, on the new test vehicles, this area was hidden by unusually shaped camouflage, indicating the possible appearance of an additional display.
If the assumption is confirmed, the number of screens in the Panamera could increase to four. In addition to the digital instrument cluster and the central infotainment system, a separate display for the front passenger is already available to buyers.
The changes will affect not only the interior. Earlier, prototypes of the restyled version demonstrated updated lighting, redesigned bumpers, and modernized electronic driver assistance systems. In addition, journalists noted one of the test cars, which may hint at an expansion of the hybrid modification lineup.
The possible abandonment of physical controls comes against the backdrop of a reverse trend in the industry. In recent years, a number of manufacturers have already begun to bring back conventional buttons after criticism from owners and safety experts. Therefore, Porsche's decision may be one of the most discussed elements of the future update.
The official premiere of the restyled Panamera is expected in the coming months.
