Haval H6 Returns to its Roots: GWM Bestseller Unexpectedly Abandons Controversial Solutions

Before sales start in China, the crossover received a new design, classic controls, and an updated interior

Great Wall Motor is preparing to release the updated Haval H6 – the most mass-produced car in the brand's history. Sales of the restyled version in China will start on June 15, and the main feature of the model is an unexpected return to a more traditional approach in design and ergonomics.

The Haval H6 remains one of the key models for the Chinese manufacturer. Since its debut in 2011, over four million of these crossovers have been sold worldwide, and the model itself has held the lead in the SUV market in China for more than eight consecutive years.

Judging by the published materials, GWM has decided to abandon some of the controversial solutions of recent years. The updated H6 received a stricter front end with a large radiator grille and traditional horizontal lines. Equally important changes have occurred in the interior: the manufacturer has brought back physical buttons for controlling the main functions of the car, reducing reliance on the touch screen. This approach is becoming increasingly popular among automakers after criticism of fully digital interfaces.

In addition, the crossover will retain modern driver assistance systems, a digital instrument panel, and current power units. According to preliminary data, the range will still include 1.5 and 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engines.
